Foster Mensah Kofi Agbornu is a Deputy Chief Health Tutor and the Planning & Quality Assurance Officer at the college. He is an experienced nursing educator with a strong focus on quality assurance in nursing education, curriculum development, and academic leadership. With over a decade of teaching experience, he has been instrumental in shaping nursing education through strategic planning, accreditation processes, and faculty capacity building. As the Planning and Quality Assurance Officer, he is responsible for coordinating the activities of the faculty regarding the evaluation of strategic planning, ensuring quality service delivery in teaching, research, and the attainment of academic and service excellence. His role also includes overseeing the institution’s accreditation processes and other quality-related engagements with the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), facilitating internal capacity building for faculty and academic support staff, and ensuring the development, dissemination, and application of quality-related benchmarks for academic and administrative activities. His commitment to these responsibilities has significantly contributed to the attainment of institutional accreditation for the college.
Foster holds an MPhil in Nursing from the University of Ghana, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Cape Coast, and a Diploma in Nursing from the Nurses Training College, Ho. Before transitioning into academia, he practiced as a clinical nurse for four years, gaining hands-on experience in patient care. Since 2012, he has been teaching and mentoring nursing students, making substantial contributions to curriculum development and quality assurance in nursing education. His research interests focus on quality assurance in nursing education and the integration of patient and staff safety measures, with a commitment to advancing best practices that enhance both learning environments and healthcare delivery. To further strengthen his expertise in quality assurance, he has participated in seminars and conferences organized by GTEC, focusing on best practices in quality tertiary education and the continuous improvement of academic standards.
He is a member of the School Management Committee (SMC) and the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA). His contributions to the college include leading the implementation of tutor evaluations to enhance teaching effectiveness and playing a key role in curriculum design to improve academic programs and align them with professional standards. His dedication to ensuring academic excellence and institutional development continues to make a significant impact on the college’s growth and reputation.
